I’ve been seeing numerous new treatments and appliances for those who have been affected by the dreaded condition known as spasticity, which is defined as “the involuntary muscle contraction that occurs when the body is challenged.” The term comes from the Greek words “spat” (from “spastic”) and “dia” (from “disease”) which means “to touch.
Spasticity is a condition that can occur when the body is in a state of extreme stress, such as from injury, illness, or a recent change in lifestyle. Spasticity is often described as a spasm, but that is only half the story because spasm is actually a contraction of the muscles and ligaments.
Although there are many treatments for spasticity, there is a newer treatment that seems to be helping more and more people, and it’s called Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. I’m not going to cover all the reasons why TENS is so important, but it definitely helps in some people. I’m not going to discuss the side effects or how long it lasts, but you should definitely check out the YouTube video for a more thorough explanation.
After all that, there’s still something we haven’t talked about, which is the effectiveness of TENS. It was shown to be more effective than medication and other treatments in some people, and there is also some evidence that it’s less expensive than medications. It’s important to remember, though, that TENS isn’t a magic bullet. It’s not a magic pill that will cure you of all your spasticity problems.
TENS is a nerve stimulator that is used to treat a variety of conditions, including “tumors, spasms, and muscles.” Although its not a cure, it can be an effective alternative to medications like muscle relaxants. The most common reason for using TENS is to treat spasticity, but there are plenty of different types of spasticity that can be treated with TENS.
I was told by my neurologist that I had TENS in my right leg since I was diagnosed with my first one at age 19. I haven’t had a ton of spasticity since then, but I have had some muscle spasms and it was good to know I had it. I would recommend that you try some TENS if you might have it.
I have a friend who is in the same boat as me. She has the same neurological problems as I do. She would probably not give up meds for a good reason if she knew what I know. The only reason she gave me for not doing it was that she didnt know if it would help her. I have never heard of any TENS being tested on humans. They could be useful and may become more common in the future.
I had my first injection of TENS in college. It was the first time I thought I was going crazy. I mean it was intense and I felt like I was going to die. I was very embarrassed that I had the needle sticking me. I had no idea that I was in pain.
I’m not saying that it is a good idea to use TENS to ease spasticity or anything, but there are a few things to be aware of. First, the TENS itself is a pretty effective way to relax muscles if you’re a guy. The technique is really simple. In a few seconds you’ll be feeling your muscles relax while a tingling sensation will be radiating through your whole body.
TENS uses a special type of nerve gel that works like a drug, but it’s not addictive. The most common side effect is a feeling of tingling, which is nothing to worry about and is actually what I was feeling.
