I’ve never had a fun week without thinking about the antifungal medication that is supposed to be in my medicine cabinet. The antifungal medication that gets me through the day (I don’t really know what that means, but it’s a long story) is the antifungal medication that I am taking. It is, after all, the only medication that has been prescribed for me in the past year or so.
I recently got a prescription for a new antifungal medication, and I thought that was a good thing. Why do we need to take a lot of medications when we can just pick them up at the pharmacy? It sounds like a great idea, I just had no idea what it was for. The antifungal medication I get is, unfortunately, a very potent one.
In order to get a good amount of efficacy out of the medication, it can take a few weeks to figure out what dosage you need. Most people get it once a month or so, and then have to take it twice a day for about a week. The medication I take is also very powerful and can cause me to have blood pressure and heart problems. It also makes me feel as if I have to pee every two hours, which is a little scary.
We get this drug from a company called Pfizer, which is also the same that makes the blood pressure medicine Avicena. Pfizer also makes another antifungal medication called AmBisome. The pills I take are called AmBisome® and are sold by Mylan. The only reason I mention the Pfizer drug is because of the way it is prescribed.
Like many antifungal drugs, systemic antifungal was developed to kill fungus, like Candida albicans, the type of fungus that sometimes causes life-threatening infections. Systemic antifungal is an alternative treatment for people with severe fungal infections, such as those caused by AIDS and hepatitis, as well as those who have a compromised immune system, a weak stomach, or other conditions. This is not a cure.
Systemic antifungal was developed around the same time as other anti-fungals, such as amphotericin B (amp-B) and fluconazole, which is also a drug that kills fungus, but also has several other side effects, including nausea and flu-like symptoms. I see no reason why systemic antifungal would be any more effective or less harmful than those other drugs.
Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it a cure. It’s like if you get a flu shot and then you get a flu-like condition. If you get too much of the flu vaccine, you’re going to get a flu-like illness, which is nothing to be afraid of. But systemic antifungal is not the same thing. It’s essentially taking off the fungal cells that cause your illness, and then destroying them with the antifungal.
The concept of systemic antifungal isn’t new, but it’s been around for a while. It really isn’t that dangerous and can be used for serious infections, however, I wouldnt be so sure. Systemic antifungal, like systemic corticosteroids, is a very powerful drug which can have serious side effects.
Yes, systemic antifungal is dangerous, and yes, I’ve heard it can cause serious side effects. But as with most drugs, this is a highly individualized drug that needs to be used under the supervision of a medical professional. The side effects are usually small and mild, and they can usually be handled without any major effects.
Systemic antifungal has no known side effects, and there are no known side effects with the anti-fungal medication. So, you’re basically safe until you’re in your 30s. If you’re already a healthy adult, then you can definitely take it indefinitely. It’s certainly been tested in many clinical trials, and it’s not as toxic as many people make it out to be.
