It’s no secret that I have a love-hate relationship with mosquitoes. In fact, I have a whole post about it that is probably going to be up in the top 20 of all time. To make things worse, I have to do it twice a year because they are a nuisance. I am not the only person who gets bitten by them, and it gets even worse when you are in the sun. So yes, I am well aware of the mosquito problem.
The good news? I have just found out that the “phobi” mosquitoes are actually a species of mosquito that can bite humans, but only if we do certain things during the day. So while they’re a nuisance to me, if you see them it means you need to wear a hat.
This is the first insect I have ever heard of that can bite at all. I have seen them on the outside of my house, but I have never seen them on my body. I have also only seen them in the rain, a bit after the sun has gone down (usually around 7 pm).
This is what it looks like to me, and it’s true: the phobi mosquitoes are a small bug that only bites humans in the summertime. They’re not really that bad though, as they only take out the smallest ones. They are mostly gone by the end of October though, so it will be another month before they really start buzzing.
I’ve seen these mosquitoes in the rain at my grandparents house in South Carolina. You may recall that my Grandma has suffered from them since she was a little girl. She is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking and this is one of the ways she has been able to keep her house free of these pesky bugs. So if you see them, don’t run. I think they are harmless little critters and you can just walk around and leave them alone.
I remember when I was a kid, my grandma would bring me to the back door of her house and we would go around the side of the house and she would let me pet her cat. Well, one night I was sitting on her couch and she asked me to pet her cat.
When I was a kid, I had a very bad case of the common cold, which came and went with a fever, cough, and body aches. I thought it was all in my head. But after a few days, I was pretty sure I had contracted this bug from my grandma and I decided to go and see her to find out what it was. We went to the back door and my grandma let me pet her cat.
My grandma is my only living relative (at the moment), so I was pretty excited to see her, but she seemed to be pretty nervous about my petting her cat. She made a lot of hand motions with her hands and said, “What did you do?” I couldn’t really explain to her what I did for a bit, so I just went with it. I think I just touched her leg or something like that. She was pretty upset and asked me to leave.
I think it was a phobia, but whatever it was was pretty unsettling. I would be more worried about that if my grandma had just let me pet her cat.
You might be surprised at how often petting cats is treated with disdain. I’m not saying you should never pet a cat, but I’m saying that that might be a phobia. I’m sure there are many cats out there who could relate to phobies.
