I am going to start the day by telling you guys about a book I recently read that is so mind-blowing that I want to share it with you now. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard about the “nature review” by Dr. Michael Gazzaniga and I have finally read it. It is truly breathtaking stuff. I would recommend it to anybody that wants to know why we aren’t more aware of the natural world around us.
It’s a little hard, I know. But I also know that if you really want to know why we are so oblivious to our surroundings and how we interact with it, then reading the book will give you a lot of new ideas. I think it’s interesting to also compare our behavior to how animals do it, and how we should expect it to be. For example, our brains are like a computer, or a chess board with different pieces.
We are not like computers, or chess pieces. We have a brain and we have thoughts and feelings. Our brains are not like computers in that they are simple and black and white. In fact, the very idea of a computer with a brain is absurd because it is impossible. There is nothing that can’t be programmed in a computer. The problem is that computers are too complex for our brains to ever be able to handle. This is why we have computers and algorithms.
