I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have been asked, “So, what color do you use for your interior paint?” The reality is that there are so many colors to choose from, it is nearly impossible for one person to be certain what she will end up with.
If you are like many of us, you have a lot of interior paint choices to make. The process for choosing your paint also becomes one of the biggest decisions you will make in your home’s interior. Because paint, like a lot of other interior surfaces, is a relatively messy thing to work with (at least when it comes to a home), it is also going to be one area where you will have to get a lot of help.
Before deciding to paint your home, consider that a good friend of mine, “Dr. Mario” is pretty serious about his interior paint selections. He has a thing for reds, so he chooses to paint our house in reds. The reason for this is that, unlike other colors, red is actually a useful color to have in a house, and it is usually the color of someone’s personality.
Dr. Mario will also paint our house red in hopes that the paint will create spaces that are less cluttered and less “saturated.” In other words, he hopes that the color will help him to create a space that is less cluttered and less “saturated.
In a paint job, if you can’t get the color to do what you want, you would probably be better off just taking away as much of the color as possible and creating a neutral color instead. The same thing goes for a room. The only exception to this rule is that you would probably be better off simply taking away as much of the color as possible and creating a neutral color instead.
I think that the best way to do this is to create a space that is less cluttered and less saturated. There are lots of space-saving ways to achieve this. For instance, instead of painting a room with a heavy color, you could paint it with neutrals and leave the color on the walls. There are other ways to achieve this as well.
Another way to make a room look less cluttered is to move things around to make it look more cubist. For instance, instead of painting a room with an overly saturated color, you could paint an area of the room with a lighter color and paint the rest with a darker color. The same thing goes for furniture. If the colors in your room are too saturated, then you can paint those colors on the walls.
A third option is to use a contrasting color on an area that would otherwise be too bright. For instance, if you have a room that has a lot of white in it, then you could paint that white with a contrasting color. The same goes for curtains. You can paint a curtain in a new color, but if it’s too bright you can brighten the room with a contrasting color.
We tested this idea by painting a curtain and using the contrast to lighten the room. The difference in light is quite striking with the room lit just enough to be seen, but with the curtains in a new color.
The problem with this idea is that you could easily end up with a “seamless wall” where the color of the curtain and the wall is different from each other. This would be a very bad idea because the contrast of the two colors would be so pronounced that it would render the room unreadable.
