My first reaction to this was to say that this medication has no side effects and is safe to use. However, I’m no doctor and I’m not a medicine snob, so I just didn’t know how to feel about it. I am, however, very interested to know if this can really be used as a way to reduce or prevent the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
I have been taking a pill called cinacalcet for a couple of years now to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol in an effort to prevent heart disease. Some of my symptoms (such as the fact that I have a hard time getting out of bed during the winter months) may have been caused by the drugs I took. I am extremely disappointed that the author of this article isn’t going to tell you that the cinacalcet is safe for everyone to use.
The author of this article says cinacalcet is safe for everyone to use. It is safe for most as stated by the manufacturer. What about those of us who have certain medical conditions that might cause us to need to take the drug? It should be noted that some of the adverse effects of taking the drug are similar to many of the other drugs available to sufferers of Parkinsons disease, such as nausea, headache, dizziness, and fatigue.
The cinacalcet is a drug used to treat Parkinson’s disease. It is not a cure, however it is a treatment for that symptom called “dementia.” According to the FDA, it is a drug that has been used for about seventy years and has been shown to decrease the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
The FDA does not recommend cinacalcet for the treatment of Parkinsons disease because there is no good evidence that it works. However, it is a good way to prevent the onset of dementia in patients with the disease, and it is being used to treat their symptoms. It is not a cure for Parkinson’s disease, as the FDA notes, but it may help slow its progression.
Well, that’s good to hear because the FDA has noted that Alzheimer’s patients who are on cinacalcet may actually begin to experience some cognitive side effects like memory loss and the like. According to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine, the symptoms of Alzheimer’s patients with cinacalcet treatment include memory problems, difficulty remembering things, and forgetting names.
That doesn’t sound much like Parkinson’s.

This is true but it does not prove that cinacalcet is effective for Alzheimers patients. The reported side-effects are generally considered to be mild, so far I have not seen any definitive evidence of them being detrimental to one’s life or health.
That being said, a report from a 2012 study on cinacalcet found that it was effective in reducing the severity of age-related memory loss. That study was carried out on mice, but it seems that Alzheimer’s patients with cinacalcet treatment had no memory problems whatsoever.
