I’ve spent a lot of my life in and out of hospitals, and when you get to know a person, you do find many of the same things. I have learned that I have the right to my own body, the right to privacy, the right to my own medical care, and the right to have fun while the doctors do their work. But when I get to that point, I realize that I have none of these rights.
I understand that everyone has different needs, but it was easy to find myself in this situation. Once I had come to this realization, I stopped trying to take care of others, and I began to take care of myself. Not only do I keep my own health, I also help others to keep theirs. I now know what it feels like to be sick.
