Gallstones are tiny, round, hard, usually cholesterol-laden deposits that form in the gallbladder, the digestive system’s organ that helps digest food. Gallstones can form when the gallbladder is damaged by gallstone disease or when it is over-produced. Gallstones can also form in the small intestine, an organ that helps digest food.
Gallstones can be painful, and you might not feel like you have a gallbladder if you have a family history of gallstones. This is usually because the gallbladder is a very busy muscle, so it is unable to stop the flow of bile (yellow, orange, or brown) and thus blocks the flow of it out of the body. This creates a blockage called a gallstone.
Gallstones are a common cause of cholecystitis, a condition where a blockage in the bile duct causes inflammation (inflammation of the gallbladder) and pain (gallstones). The gallbladder is also the main organ that produces bile, which is a lubricant that helps the digestive tract. The gallbladder is very muscular, so it often becomes inflamed as a result of bile being blocked.
If you’ve read this far you probably know that the gallbladder is located in the stomach, not in the liver. That means if you have a gallstone in your bile duct, your liver doesn’t get to process it. Instead, your gallbladder releases bile by producing acid, and the acid in the bile is then absorbed into the bloodstream.
So what happens when you have gallstones? A gallstone blockage in the bile duct causes inflammation (which can be painful). Some people get indigestion and a blockage in their small intestine can lead to a blockage in the bile duct. The blockage leads to a swelling in the gallbladder, and in extreme cases, a blockage in the gallbladder can lead to the gallstones coming out.
In most cases the only cure is surgery. In the case of gallbladder stones, gallbladder surgery is the only way to remove the stone. In some cases, surgery can cause complications such as infection, bleeding, or perforation of the gallbladder. In the case of gallbladder blockage, you can’t even get an MRI. So it’s a bit of a hassle for the majority of people.
Well I was told by my doctor to go to the E.R. and try to get one of those MRI’s. I told my mom I was going to, but I was a little worried about it. She laughed at me, and told me to just keep going.
Gallbladder surgery? Seriously? Well, if it means putting a needle in your belly, then I guess it is a little risky. But if you can get the blockage out before it spreads, then its a much better option than doing a bunch of x-rays.
The gallbladder is a benign bile duct that stores bile, the yellowish yellow liquid secreted by your liver from food. It is made up of four separate tubes, each with its own function and function is dependent on the other three tubes. If the bile duct is damaged, then it can cause serious problems. Gallbladder cancer is the most common cancer of the bile duct.
There are many different types of gallbladder stones. The most common ones are found in your gallbladder, and they are called gallstones. Gallstones are made of a combination of silica, calcium, and cholesterol. Gallstones mostly cause discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen, but some can cause pain in the right side of the neck. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor about having your gallbladder checked out.
