So what if you get bored one day at work, but then it happens again the next day, and again? We often focus our energy on those moments that cause us to become a little bored, but when we start to think about these moments, we become far more aware of our surroundings. This is the benefit of daily mindfulness.
I think it’s important to realize that one’s personal experience (or lack thereof) can be a bad thing. As we’ve all heard before, sometimes when you’re bored for a period of time, you can get stuck in a loop of repetitive thoughts. The problem with this is when the repetitive thoughts become your habit, your subconscious mind takes over, and you simply can’t stop yourself.
This is exactly what happens to Colt when he gets stuck in a loop. After he gets bored, he starts watching videos of people who he thinks look cool and likes. Once he discovers he looks cool and likes, he becomes obsessed with getting to the video store. As soon as he gets there, the whole thing becomes a loop of his own making.
Like I said, repetitive thoughts are a problem. The problem is most people are just too busy, too consumed with their own lives to notice the repetitive thoughts, but we all get stuck in this loop. The solution is to figure out what to do, which is how I ended up with this blog. I started it to give myself a goal to work toward, and I’m happy that I found my way back to it now.
I had previously left the video store for two reasons. I knew I needed a job and I wanted to be part of the video game industry, so I did. It’s a little weird to be talking to you guys while you’re watching me playing Halo, but it works.
The video store is a weird place. I can’t say that I would recommend it for someone who wants to be a video game designer, but I will say that it is a hell of a lot easier than going to a normal store. All the employees I’ve met have some weird personality traits. I’m sure there is a lot of it tied into the fact that I don’t get along with anybody.
I love the store because it’s a nice place to hang out and get your gear. The employees are generally nice and helpful though. A couple of the employees are actually really funny and entertaining, most of all the one who is always giving me weird looks. The one who is always making weird faces.
The most annoying employee here is the one who always gives me weird looks and has a weird personality. He is my manager and the sales person. They both give me weird looks, but he is the one I really hate.
