Every few days I get asked how many lunges I should do when working out. It’s a difficult question to answer. I’ve been told by some people to do 5 every day, and by others I should do 5 twice a week. I’ve asked myself these questions over and over again because I don’t know. There’s no right answer to this question. I have my ways.
Lunges are the part of the body that you have to do a certain amount of each day. For example, I generally do 4 lunges each day. But if I want to do a lot of lunges, I do a few sets of lunges at once. I have a friend who does a lot of lunges every day. She goes to the gym and does about 300 lunges.
I’ve heard it said that “Lunges work better on heavier weights,” but I have no idea what that means. I think if you lift heavy enough to do lunges you’re probably not strong enough to do lunges, but that’s probably true for someone who lifts heavy enough to do lunges.
Lunges are generally held by stronger people because they don’t require a lot of strength. You can’t really do lunges to save your life, but if you could you’d probably do a lot more lunges. I’m not sure why this is. Perhaps because you might not be strong enough to do lunges.
I once heard someone say, “I can do a lot of lunges, but I can’t do the lunges that other people do.” That makes sense, but I don’t think that the definition of “lunges” itself is really clear. What it means is something of a plank, a jumping motion with lots of energy. If you can do a plank you have a leg up on the competition.
