It’s been said that we each began our lives in a fountain of youth, but I’m not so sure that it’s true. There is an age at which everyone is beginning to forget the things they once knew so vividly, which is why I feel that the fountain of youth could be in our blood, or perhaps in the blood of our ancestors.
I don’t know the specific age of the fountain of youth, but I do know that it has been said that we each begin our lives in the fountain of youth. What I mean by that is that we begin life in a place in which there are no memories. We are young when we first wake up to the world, and it’s usually the first thing we remember is the first night we see our mother, or our first day of school.
I think it’s because we are young during our first moments of consciousness when we begin to experience memories. I know I was in my early 20s when I first told my mother I loved her because I was so young the first time I asked her about my father. I had just turned five years old and felt like I was being put back in my crib.
It’s a bit of a cliche but I think the fountain of youth might actually be because of the way our brains work. I remember when I was a teenager I used to get my hair trimmed and when I would do my nails it would always be done “by accident”. If I was going out in public I would always be with friends or even with my parents in the city. Now I know this is the same thing happening to a lot of people.
This is really interesting because our brains are actually capable of so much. We can remember past events we’ve been through in amazing detail, we’re capable of doing things that we’ve never even imagined, and we’re capable of doing things that we’ve never even thought about.
This is the same thing that I was talking about earlier. As we age our memories become more fragmented because of the wear and tear of normal daily life. If we haven’t lost many of our memories by now, what happens is our memories are simply “frozen” so that they remain there. And because our memories are being frozen, they are not being remembered.
That’s why there are so many myths about our “fountain of youth”. The fountain of youth is actually pretty inaccurate because it’s only been in our blood a handful of times in our life. In the 1800s, the fountain of youth was a myth that most people believed, not based on any evidence. As we get older and our memories become fragmented, our fountain of youth becomes easier to believe.
It’s very possible that the fountain of youth has been in our blood for thousands of years, but that we didn’t have the nerve to discuss it, so it was kept in the dark. We had no way to tell our kids about this, so they all grew up believing that our mother and father were lying to them. Our own kids were just given a bunch of misinformation that was a lot harder to correct later.

Our kids are just getting a bunch of misinformation like that, but it’s not so easy to correct when we can’t see that the fountain of youth has been in our blood for thousands of years. We can’t see the fountain of youth because it’s just too hard to look.
