When we were talking about Deathloop, we had to keep in mind another important part of our daily routine: the amount of time we spend at the gym. The idea of getting up at the same time in the morning and running around the gym with our phones and our workbooks is a very basic human need.
Of course, the way our brains work is that we think we need a lot of things at once. We can go to the gym and not really be able to exercise, but we think we have to do it. The same thing happens when we go to get a drink at the bar. We think we have to have a drink, but we really do not. In fact, when we think about these things, we probably have a lot less motivation.
This is where the term “self-awareness” comes in. Many of us believe we have an innate desire to be aware of our own selves. What we don’t realize is that we are always doing things that seem to be self-centered. We have this internal monologue about how we are not good enough, not smart enough, not in the right place, etc. We are constantly trying to please everyone else, not ourselves.
Self-awareness is a much better word to describe what we are trying to achieve with drinking. It’s not that we are trying to be good, it’s that we are trying to be better. We are trying to be better than we are, not necessarily better than others, but better than we think we can be. Most of us use alcohol as a means of self-improvement.
It’s no secret that a lot of us drink to feel better, but many of us also use alcohol as a way to feel better. And our drinking habits are often related to our self-awareness. A friend of mine is married to a man who drinks heavily. At first it was a bit weird to talk to her about a man who drinks heavily, but he’s really nice and he really cares about her, so we talked about it.
So it turns out that the husband and wife are actually on two different stages of the same process. At the moment, the husband is a stage of self-awareness, but he is also a stage of self-development. At the moment the wife is the one who is drinking to better herself, but is also a stage of self-awareness. The couple is a dual process because they are both using alcohol as a means of self-improvement.
