These engineers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology have created actual fibers that are used in all kinds of things from clothing and medical devices to car interiors. These fibers are produced by a process called lamination. The more the process is studied, the more we can learn and improve.
The process of creating fibers is a very complicated one. For some reason, it works so well at breaking down materials that we are able to use it to create the fibers for the first time. This is just the beginning of the process of engineering a fiber, but it’s still a long way off from being useful in the real world. For now, though, it’s a very cool and promising way to make all sorts of amazing stuff.
It’s a bit like the Internet of Things. We have all sorts of sensors on our smartphones that can connect to the Internet. But the real thing that we’re really talking about is the Internet of Fibers. All of these sensors, and other things built using this technology, are designed to allow a very small amount of data (like temperature or voltage) to be transmitted wirelessly to a central server.
In this example, the sensor is able to send out small bits of data that need to be interpreted by a central server. This server then tells the sensor what the temperature is, whether it is over or under the set threshold, and how high or low it is. This in turn can trigger an automatic shutdown of the sensor.
So, the idea of the sensor is that it can be programmed to send out data just by detecting something small. It is not a “smart” device like a camera or computer, but it is a “smart” device like the iPhone or the Amazon Echo.
This is actually part of the reason why we have so many smart devices. We want the sensors to be smarter than their owners, because we know that the data they send us could be used to help us solve problems in another part of the world that we are not currently aware of.
We hope that this sensor makes it possible to send images and data directly to another person and have them take an action based on the information. Since a sensor is not yet able to do this, it is possible that this could be used to send information about the size of a person’s foot, a measure of their body heat, or even something like a heartbeat. We are not too sure of this though.
You can see the sensor’s working prototype in the video below. It is also being tested in a lab so it should be fairly easy to make use of. The idea is that we can send these sensors to a person, their body, or to another person so we can make their measurements and their actions.
We don’t know if this is actually possible, but it sounds like it could be awesome. Maybe someday we’ll be able to send our heartbeat to another person and see if they react to it. We know we can’t send an email or text message directly to a person, but we can track their movements and send the data to them. We also know, of course, that this could be easily spoofed, so this would need to be done via a secure connection.
Fiber is the same stuff that makes up a lot of everyday fabrics. The material is made up of a very light, flexible, and soft polymer that is easy to bend and work with. Fiber is actually the most versatile material of all. It is perfect for clothing, construction, home and office furniture, etc.
