Dyslexia is an educational disability that makes it impossible for a person to read and write correctly. While the condition is often thought of as a learning disability, it is actually much more. This is due to all the reading and writing errors that happen to the brain to get a reading and writing mistake. When a person is unable to read or write, they do not have the ability to connect words they are reading to the structure of the sentences they are reading.
This is why, when a person becomes dyslexic they tend to be very slow with text and are unable to read at all. It’s also why, when a person becomes dyslexic, they tend to read and write with a few extra letters.
Another reason is that dyslexia causes a person to be more confused and less able to connect letters to words. In the case of a dyslexic, their brain is incapable of understanding that it is reading or writing words and not simply counting them as letters.
You see, dyslexia is the result of a genetic mutation that causes a person to have a defective brain. This is why, dyslexic people tend to read at a slower rate and have problems with connecting letters to words.
As we learned earlier, dyslexia is another common result of the neurological defects associated with autism.
For those of you wondering, yes, Dyslexia is another common neurological defect found in people with autism spectrum disorder.
Our dyslexia overlays feature many of the same things as the rest of our website, but they are colored in a unique way. In the upper right corner is a picture of a baby with a typical brain, while on the left is a baby with a dyslexic brain. The latter one is clearly a baby with a much slower rate of reading but a great deal of clarity.
We made the decision to color our overlays in this unique way because we wanted to make sure we represented the very best we could with the information we were gathering. We don’t want to take the risk of making it look off or too “neat” for everyone. It should be pretty obvious to anyone reading this that we don’t want people to see our overlays as a substitute for reading or writing.
We were lucky in that most people who are dyslexic already have the information we were gathering at the time we made our overlays, but there are still those who are not. Dyslexic people are incredibly complex and have a great deal of information about themselves that they need to be able to digest. For this reason, we used our colored overlays to show the type of information we were gathering as well as our own personal notes.
Dyslexic people often have some of the same issues that many other people do; that is, they have trouble with spelling and reading, as well as some difficulties with writing in general. And it’s not just because of the difficulties with spelling and reading, although that’s part of it. Sometimes dyslexic people can read in a way that other people cannot, like reading a book that someone else just wrote.
