If there is one thing that I’ve learned over the course of my life, it’s that anxiety isn’t a constant. It’s a disease that can be exacerbated by a variety of factors like job stress, lack of sleep, and being in the public eye. As the world of anxiety has become more and more real and visible, the question of what it is we’re dealing with has also changed.
As an example, Ive had a bad day off work recently and I suddenly felt like I was having a panic attack. I’ve been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and a panic disorder, and Ive been seeing a Dr. to get some help. Ive been going to a therapist, but theyve all been in the same room with me, and I’ve been taking medications for anxiety.
The question is whether we’ve become so dependent on medication that we’ve forgotten how to manage it. Our anxiety isn’t caused by the medication, our anxiety is caused by our thoughts. We’re afraid that we’ll forget what we’re supposed to do and that we’ll have these horrible thoughts that we can’t get rid of.
The problem is that our thoughts are usually quite bad, even worse than our anxiety. We often have thoughts that are so stupid that we don’t even know how to tell them to stop. If youve ever had the “I’m going to kill myself” thoughts, you know just how bad they can be. We can’t just tell them to stop. But we can use our thoughts to control our anxiety.
Like most emotions, anxiety is a very complex one. The fact that something so small can cause so much anxiety is the exact opposite of what we would expect. The fact that we can control our thoughts so much is probably the reason why we actually have such a large amount of anxiety. The only way to get rid of anxiety is to stop thinking about it.
If you’re feeling anxious, you’re probably experiencing some form of negative thought. Negative thoughts are usually about things that are happening right now, like what’s happening at work or with your kids. Positive thoughts are more abstract and don’t actually involve any negative things. But negative thoughts are just as bad as anything else that causes anxiety. So a lot of people are trying to figure out how to control their anxiety through positive thoughts. One easy way to do this is by thinking positive affirmations.
The most effective way to get rid of negative thoughts is by practicing an app called Panic Free. This app is so simple that you can just set up your phone to automatically send you positive affirmations. For example, “I am alive” or “I am having a great day” work well. You can also set up your phone to automatically send you negative affirmations like “I am going to lose my job” or “I am going to get fired”.
There are lots of apps for anxiety to choose from. You can check out the ones that are most anxiety-friendly for you by following the links on the app’s description. However, I do not recommend Panic Free because the app is very specific and not general enough. It only works for you. If you are someone who is super anxious and you want to know how to get rid of these negative thoughts, go with a general anxiety app like A.Word.A.Day.
I am not saying those apps aren’t worthwhile. The only thing I am saying is that they are a very specific tool for you to work with. If you are someone who is extremely anxious and wants to know exactly how to get rid of them, you’re much better off with a general anxiety app.
