I will admit to being a bit of a self-aware person. I am aware of my surroundings and the people around me, and I’m aware of my actions. I know that my actions are responsible for the outcomes that they are, and I try not to act on those thoughts and beliefs. When I get into an accident, I am fully aware of who I am, the circumstances that led up to the crash, and the people I am with.
But when it comes to our actions, I can actually be a bit of a dick. I’ve been known to say things like “oh, God, I’m so lucky!” or “I’m so sorry,” or “I’m so sorry,” because I thought it was funny the other day.
I know that I tend to say these things out of anger. When I say them out of anger, I am not usually aware or thinking about the consequences of my actions. The only way that I can think of to avoid getting upset is to actually take action, which is a very poor tactic. Im always quick to call people out on their actions, but when I get angry, Im quick to think about the consequences of my actions.
I’m not going to lie, when you’re angry you are on autopilot for a second. You’re not thinking about the consequences. You are not reflecting on the situation. You are just reacting to the emotion.
I love the idea of the “second thought” that Andy Sandness gives us with his new trailer. It’s brilliant, and a great way to bring the world to life. For those who are very excited to see how Andy Sandness is going to take us through the rest of the game, I suggest you watch it now.
I’ve watched the trailer for about a half hour, and after reading the description I didn’t really have a good idea what to expect. I think a better question should be, “Why did we even decide to watch this trailer at all?” Our minds are so conditioned to think the more we watch something, the more we learn about it. We are so used to watching things that are pretty much guaranteed to be awesome, that we think anything that is a little bit different makes it interesting.
It isn’t just the trailer that makes it interesting. It’s the way that it is presented in a way that makes it awesome. The trailers I’ve seen are often made with a purpose. The trailers I’ve seen that are supposed to be cool by themselves (like the one for Deathloop) are usually made with some kind of “Hey! Check this out!” message to encourage us to check them out. The “death loop” trailer is the most interesting one I’ve seen.
In the trailer for Deathloop, Colt is shown in a room full of dead Visionaries, as he tries to deal with the loss of his own identity. I have to disagree with one of the reviewers here. The way that you get to see it is with a message in the sky that says “This is what it is like to be a Visionary,” with a photo of Colt and a voiceover from a narrator explaining how he died.
Well, maybe the Deathloop trailer will make you feel less sorry for the Visionaries, but as a whole, it’s great. I still don’t care about that guy, but I’m glad that I was able to check them out. A little death loop is good.
Well, I was also happy to see this. I have to say that I’m generally a fan of the concept of video games (and movies for that matter) that make you feel so much for the characters you play. And Deathloop is one of the few games that I feel like I can actually really relate to in that way. Not many games can actually make me laugh, cry, or even really feel sympathy for the people in the game.
