The Lahontan Valley News will be launching a new fast-moving water rescue team this summer. This team will consist of ten volunteers who have been trained in swift water rescue techniques and safety. They’ll be assisting the local law enforcement agencies, as well as fire departments, search and rescue teams, state parks, and other government agencies with their swift water rescues. This is an exciting initiative for our community,” said LVRR President Jerry Arnold at the press conference announcing the Lahontan valley news’ newest volunteer group. “We’re thrilled to offer Lahontan valley residents another resource for saving lives.”
The Lahontan valley news team will be equipped with a raft, life jackets, and other rescue gear for carrying out swift water rescues. Their training has been funded through the Lahontan valley regional-impact grant program as well as contributions from local law enforcement agencies who have experienced firsthand the benefits of having this type of emergency response team.
“I personally know that Lahontan valley news will save lives,” said Sheriff Dennis Brugman at the press conference, “having seen it in action and knowing what they are capable of.”
The Lahontan valley News Team is scheduled to start training this summer with courses on swift water rescue techniques and emergency response.
“We are really excited about Lahontan valley news,” said one of the team’s members, “and we want our community to know that Lahontan valley news is for them.”
