What happens if you wake up during surgery? If you are awake and fully aware when you’re in the hospital, everything is fine. But, if you are unconscious, you may not realize that you are awake. And even if you are awake, the possibility that you are not fully aware that you are awake is not zero. If you were unconscious, you may not realize what you were doing when you woke up.
It’s a very real possibility that you may be completely unaware that you are awake, and the fact that your nurse may not realize this is not an issue. This happens more often than not. When I was a patient in the back surgery ward at our hospital, we were always asked if we were aware that we were in the hospital. Of course, our nurses would have to ask. It’s not like I didn’t know I was in the hospital because I was completely unaware that I was.
I know that you’re not completely aware that you’re awake, but there’s no guarantee that your nurse will have you in mind. Most of the time I find it easier to forget that I’m not awake and not notice when something bad is happening. On the other hand, I have to admit that I get a bit queasy when I’m not aware my blood pressure is low, or that my heart rate is high.
So if you wake up during surgery, you are in for a very rough ride. You can have a lot of pain, and you can have very limited, if any, memory of what has transpired. Then, after a couple of days, your doctor will come out and say, “Oh, I thought you were awake. It was just a dream.
It’s a little hard to describe what happens if you wake up during surgery, but I can tell you for sure that it’ll be nasty. Your doctor will see you and say, I see you’re awake. And then, I see you’re awake. And then, I see you’re awake. And then, I see you’re awake, and it’s a pretty bad idea to do anything for a while after that.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a doctor say that to a patient, but I’m not sure I could ever forget it. Doctors are generally pretty good about not letting you know that you’ve been awake for a while, but when you’re in an operating room, you will absolutely want to know that you’ve woken up.
I hope this helps. I know I would not have had the courage to put it on any of my blogs. I would also have had a lot of self-esteem issues if I would have said this to a bunch of people. I was always scared of my surgery and I always felt like everyone would find out. I still do.
Yeah, I know all about that. But that’s just how I felt. I was always a bit embarrassed to talk about my surgery, and I was always scared of it. I’ve been in a few hospitals, but this was my first. I know that I was just in there for a half hour, and that this was more important than anything else. I was terrified that I would be turned away or that someone would find out I was awake.
You might be surprised to learn that the surgery itself is really not scary at all. When you wake up from a long sleep, your brain can only keep on working for so long before it has to shut down, and it takes a while for your normal activities to start coming back. During these surgeries the main focus is on a medical procedure called brain stem stimulation. This means that you get a lot of pain medicine that helps you relax and feel better for a few days.
A lot of people are surprised to learn that it’s actually not that bad. After all, you’re still going to be awake during the day with you body all messed up. Although, in the short term, some people may be a little nauseated.
