White opened a small jogging store called “The Fresh Fruit Company” in San Luis Obispo, California with an investment from his father and two high school friends. The jogging store quickly became known as “Jim & Bob’s,” but it wasn’t until 1989 that James changed the name to Jamba Juices after noticing people were calling him “Jammin’ Jim.”

In 1992, Jamba Juice moved it’s headquarters to Emeryville California and in 1997 they opened their first jamba juice store.
