Netflix JIVA is back, and it’s better than ever! Season 2 of JIVA Netflix has been released with 13 new episodes that will be sure to satisfy your Jiva cravings. JIVA was created by Jivan Patel, an Indian doctor who moved to America after meeting his wife in medical school. The show follows the life of Dr. Jivan Patel, a wealthy gastroenterologist living in Beverly Hills with his beautiful family–his wife Maya and their three children Tara, Tejas, and Tanya. This dramedy will keep you hooked for hours on end as you explore this family’s highs and lows–from Maya becoming pregnant again to Tara getting accepted into Stanford University! JIVA will make you laugh and cry, as it tackles Jivan’s family life, his work life–and dealing with the death of his father.
When JIVA first premiered on Netflix in December 2017, audiences were hooked from the very beginning when Jivan Patel (played by Anupam Kher) was introduced to viewers. Jivan has always been devoted to his family and the show follows him juggling a busy work schedule, raising three kids with his wife Maya (played by Erica Dasher), and dealing with all of life’s challenges. JIVA is created by Anupam Kher, an Indian actor who also plays Jivan in the series, and writer J.D. Majethia, who is also the director of JIVA – Netflix Season Two
It’s been a year since Jivan Patel (Anupam Kher) started his new life in America with Maya, Tara, and Jivi; but now he faces unexpected challenges at work as well as personal struggles at home. JIVA Season Two premieres on Netflix December 12th, 2017 and will follow Jivan as he struggles to balance his responsibilities with those of being a loving father
This second chapter opens with Jivan struggling to make ends meet after taking an unexpected pay cut. Jivan’s daughter Jivi (Zara Singh) is struggling in school and Tara, Jivan’s wife has begun to pull away from him as a result of Jivi not being too fond of Jivan.

Amit Chhabra, Director of International Original Series at JIVA, said “We’re excited to be back with Jivan and Jivi. Season Two is a continuation of the story that began in Season One, but it also takes on new themes.”
“This season Jivan is faced with the new challenges of being a single father and Jivi has to deal with her social anxiety. We also see Jivan struggling at work while Tara struggles as an Indian immigrant in America.” – Amit Chhabra, Director of International Original Series at JIVA
In this second chapter, we will be introduced to new characters that will shape our protagonist’s life for better or worse. And there are moments when you’ll wonder what could possibly happen next?
But there are also moments of joy and happiness. We hope that you will find JIVA Season Two as touching, humorous, suspenseful and emotional as the first JIVA Season One.” – Amit Chhabra, Director of International Original Series at JIVA
“We’re very happy to be back on Netflix with this second chapter in our story,” said Karthik Raghunathan, Co-Creator/Director of JIVA. “It’s been almost three years since we finished production on the show and it has been an incredible journey for us: seeing how much people have embraced these characters from all over the world, and how JIVA has resonated with so many cultures. Season One was a tale of families coming together for the first time.”
“Season Two is about family members who have to figure out what it means when they are torn apart from each other,” added Karthik Raghunathan. “It deals with intense emotional issues – abandonment, abuse, neglect – but also explores joys such as love between parent and child or brother and sister.”
The JIVA Netflix series provides an intimate look at life in India’s urban upper class through the eyes of three young adults: Vivek (Nivin Pauly), Asha (a fashion designer) and Jai (a chef).
The show is a dramedy, which means it’s funny enough to make you laugh out loud while also being searing on the emotional scenes.
