Philadelphia firefighters battled a huge blaze through the night as another man died after he was shot point blank in the chest. The fire was believed started with a Molotov cocktail and was set off by a domestic dispute.
The fire, which was reported at 4:30 this morning, started on the second floor of a four-story apartment building in the 7300 block of North 36th Street. The initial fire was put out just before 9:30 AM.
It’s not every day that a fire is reported in the city. But it happens. These fires are not like regular fires, you know, where you can just wait it out and get it all under control. These fires are big and fast and ferocious.
It’s easy to get caught in a fire. There’s so much that goes into putting it out and being able to contain it. In this case, the fire was put out in a matter of minutes. Of course, you can’t really tell when a fire starts. All you can do is hope it goes cold before it flames up.
Today’s Philly fire report: The old firehouse in the city’s west end has caught on fire. No word on what caused it other than an “unexplained fire” reported by fire officials.
The fire broke out around 10:30 AM local time. It was reported by fire officials in a phone call they received from a resident. It’s no longer a fire, but one that is likely to get worse.
I don’t know what the exact cause of the fire was, but the fire department is asking residents to avoid the area in the west end of the city until further notice. They are also asking people to avoid walking on sidewalks and to stay away from windows.
I don’t really know what to tell you other than that it’s a very sad thing. And this is the kind of news that causes even me to feel bad for the people involved. But the good news is there are plenty of people who are going to be helping the firefighters out. You can read up on the fire’s cause here.
The Philly fire is due to go out at around 1:30pm today. It is centered around the intersection of South Broad Street and Old York Avenue. The fire department is asking residents to stay away from the area until further notice.
