As we said, this case has nothing to do with the sinking of the tower. The developer who filed the lawsuit has been trying to stop construction of this new building for months. The problem is that the building is being built on the flood plain of the river, so a flood could be coming in the near future.
There was a lot of talk about the tower being at risk of sinking, but there’s no telling how much the developers’ lawyer is trying to scare people into not building a new high-rise in this area. The river is just a few miles from here, so when the river is high, it will be a lot harder to prevent a flood than most people realize. But if the river is low at a certain time, it would still be possible.
The building has been completed, and the developers have been lobbying hard to get the building approved for the area. It’s built atop a huge natural dam that has been constructed after a similar dam was built in the area that flooded in 2008. That dam and the water from it was able to come up a few miles from the building, and that’s been the reason the building was approved.
The building is currently being used as a church, and it could be considered illegal to build a church atop a dam. Also, the building has not been approved for flood damage because of the dam, so it would still be possible for the river to be low at a certain time.
