I’ve been saying for ages that there’s no such thing as the perfect NBA free agent. I’m not talking about the two-time winner of the NBA’s MVP award, but rather the kind of player who will make you feel like a champion.
So I was wrong. The free agent list is full of guys who I just don’t think that the game’s rules are the best, so I decided to take a look at what Ive seen so far. I think there is a few players on there that I’d love to see make an impact on a team and I cant wait to get the update out and see what happens.
So this was the NBA’s first year of free agency. With the exception of some players who can be traded, the league has not really had the chance to do much of anything with its free agent crop. But with the NBA’s free agent season starting a week from today, the league has already made some moves and it looks like they are going to make more.
A few of the most notable players have been restricted and will now be able to sign with any team. But the league has already made some major moves to bolster its talent pool. So you can expect more of the usual suspects such as Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, and the rest of the old guard to make a move. The league has also added Chris Adams, Michael Beasley, and Tim Duncan.
Even though the league is making more moves, there are still some players who are still on the bench. Many of the league’s best prospects are still there but now will have to wait until training camp to play. However, the league is still adding some other high-profile players to the mix. That includes the likes of DeAndre Jordan, Rashard Lewis, and Chris Bosh.
Well it appears that there is some movement in the NBA, but not much. The NBA is still going through its free agency process and many of the top free agents aren’t even available. The league is still waiting for the new collective bargaining agreement to come out so they can make a move to appease fans who want to see a lot of big-name players leave. I’ll be honest, though, I don’t think there will be too many big names leaving.
As for the rest of free agency, there are a lot of interesting options. It will not be easy to land a lot of the top free agents as the league is still waiting on the new CBA. Players like DeAndre Jordan, Rashard Lewis, and Chris Bosh are still available, but they dont seem to be very eager to take the next step. Instead they are just waiting for the contract to come out, like a lot of other sports teams.
So if we go by the numbers, the number of free agents that we can sign will be cut in half. With that said, I think the free agents that are available will be fairly few and far between. I think it will be a few more first rounders this year as compared to last year; we have a lot more competition in the draft.
This is most likely because the other free agents are mostly of the older generation or already signed with an organization. With the NBA free agent market being just as crowded as the MLB market, a big number of free agents are going to be on the younger generation where there are fewer free agents available. I think it is more likely that we’ll see a few more first rounders this year than last year because we’ve gotten a lot more young talent.
