I have to mention that the maryland school website was updated with information from the new superintendent, Mary Gray, this week. It was great to see her. I wish that the principals and teachers could have more involvement in the decisions about the way that the schools are run.
Mary Gray is the new superintendent of the maryland schools. She was appointed in May of this year. Before that she was the superintendent for the city of maryland for 10 years. Gray was the first woman to hold that position in the state of maryland.
Gray is a former principal in baltimore, a school district in maryland, and a teacher at a charter school in maryland. She is a member of the Baltimore City School Board. A native of maryland, Gray has a master’s degree in public policy, a master’s degree in education, and a bachelor’s degree in education. She has taught at the school district for 17 years.
Gray, like many of her fellow members of the Baltimore City School Board, is an outspoken critic of many of the policies of the school district. She was one of the original members of the board who voted to place a moratorium on the opening of new charter schools within the district. She also voted against a charter school being open in her district.
Gray is a member of the Baltimore City School Board and one of the city’s most outspoken critics of charter school policies. She supported a charter school opening in her district until it was forced to close in the face of negative headlines and public outcry. In her last official comment on the matter, she said she “honestly doesn’t see how a charter school could survive in a district with a mayor who has never been an advocate for public education.
Gray has a history of making controversial comments about charter schools and the charter school movement. In 2010 she was one of the charter school advocates who filed a lawsuit against the city of Baltimore for trying to stop a charter school they considered a good cause. The charter school was shut down in 2014 after a series of lawsuits the charter school association won and Gray backed out of her endorsement. She has also been outspoken in some of her comments about charter schools in general.
