The fact of the matter is that we, as humans, are creatures of habit and our brains are pretty good at automating our habits. We’ve all seen it in our own lives. We have the option to consciously choose to either be aware of these habits or not, but it doesn’t really matter. Either way, our brains will keep doing what they’ve done for a long time.
There are still some things that our brains dont like doing, but that doesnt really matter either. One thing this article highlights is that once we start automating our habits, we have a hard time getting them to change. All our habits are automatic, so even our unconscious habits are going to keep doing what they did for a long time.
Thats why I think it is so important to be aware of your habits. Even if youve been on autopilot for a while, you still have to choose to be aware of them. Once you decide to wake up your body, then you have to make it so that your body doesnt have any other reason to keep doing what you did.
In a sense, we are automatons. We are machines that have so much power over the environment that we have been programmed to do certain things for such a long time that we can’t actually do anything about it. We can’t change our habits, or even stop them. So unless you can get your habits to change, or make them so that you don’t use them in the first place, then you are stuck with the results you got.
This is where the maggots come in. We have so many ways of messing with the environment, such as our emotions and our instincts, that it seems we can never escape them. So by making the environment so that we can control it we can force ourselves to do certain things. The problem is that we can end up with the results we got.
Well, if that’s the case here we’re pretty sure that the result would be death. So it is worth thinking about how different our lives would be if we could do our old habits one by one, or at least force ourselves to stop doing them. The truth is that we could, and most likely should, change our habits. But if we don’t, we have to decide if it’s worth it to give up what we’ve got that we can control in the first place.
