Last weekend I was able to go to the Lucerne Valley in Switzerland to visit the village of Lucerne where some of the best Swiss chocolate is produced.
It’s been known that the Swiss town of Lucerne was the site of a factory that produced a chocolate that was banned from sale in the West because of its content. While the ban was lifted in the early 1900’s, the company was able to keep making the chocolate for decades.

This was because they had to sell it in the European market since Switzerland was a possession of the Holy See. So the ban was lifted in the early 1900s. This is why the Swiss are known for their chocolate, not because of the taste, but because of the quality.
It’s also why the Swiss have the highest chocolate and dairy consumption in the world. Because they have to maintain a high quality product.
Since the invention of the factory in Switzerland, things have been a little different. Switzerland has a relatively small population (less than half a million people) so it doesn’t have the power of mass production to support the high demand for chocolate and dairy products. Thus, the Swiss chocolate is generally considered the best. Swiss chocolate manufacturers have a high level of pride when talking about the country’s chocolate.
Switzerland is not only considered the best in the world, but one of the best in the entire world.
