If you’re looking for a way to get your Houston Texans baseball team back on track, don’t fret. Many have been taking a lot of heat for how they have handled the last few years. The Texans fired head coach Bill O’Brien when they were 3-18 in their first year in Texas. When they finished 3-19 with O’Brien, they fired general manager Rick Smith.
The fact that the Texans fired OBrien and not Smith is probably because they don’t want to deal with the scrutiny the fired head coach gets. So when they hired Rick Smith, it was in part to save face. And thats a good thing. But they also need to give the coaches some power. They are, after all, accountable to the players.
Rick Smith is an excellent coach. He’s great at reading defenses and finding ways to get the ball into the hands of his running backs (and other key players). But he’s not perfect. He could have easily hired Tom Herman as his coach, thinking he can get the offense clicking, but Herman would rather be with the Texans than with the Texans. Also, he’s been around, so he may have some knowledge that the Texans don’t.
I think that Rick Smith has some great ideas that Texans fans should be excited about, but unfortunately, he has been a bad teacher. I think he has a point when he says that Texans fans arent allowed to cheer for the game, but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be excited to see the team win. What Rick does is to make it seem like the team is always the team, and that they dont always need to be winning.
If you’re going to be a fan of a team, you should be excited for the team to win. Rick Smith is also a fan of the Texans, and he’s the same way when it comes to things that make the Texans fan happy. So if you’re going to be a Texans fan, you should be rooting for them to win.
Rick was also the first Texans player to sign a contract extension, so if he doesnt do what hes saying, he might be in a losing slump.
They need a lot of help from the coaching staff, and they need to improve on the defense, but theyve been pretty good in recent years. It seems like we’re watching the Texans develop into a playoff team, which is exciting.
Sure, but we have the NFL draft to look forward to. So let’s see if we can do something about it.
Well, I think we all know that the Texans are going to be a playoff team, whether they win or lose. So far they’ve been in the playoffs three times in four years, so they’re clearly on the right track and should be in the first round of the playoffs eventually.
We also know that the Texans will start off the season with the sixth most wins in the NFL, so theys had some success, sure. But it also seems like theyve been pretty good at avoiding their mistakes, and you can see this by looking at the Texans schedule to this point. They might be a playoff team, but that doesnt mean that Houston needs to be the next Seattle.
