I love this time/space continuum, and it deserves to be celebrated. The idea of a time/space continuum is that space is a constant, even if the things you think of as space are constantly changing. The problem is that we generally don’t even have a concept of a timespace continuum. We don’t know how to talk about it, and we don’t really know what it is. In space the problem is that there are so many different timespaces. There is one that is earth, one that is a red moon, one that is the sun, and one that is our galaxy. So you could argue that there are more universes than there are timespaces, and that there are timespaces that are not our own. That would mean our universe is an infinite time-loop. But our own is finite. This is why we need time to exist, because if it were infinite, then it would just keep on looping forever. If our universe was infinite in that sense, then time would just keep on looping forever.
I agree with you that the idea of a universe that is infinite in that sense is pretty interesting, but I don’t think that’s really how infinite time-loops work. We know that there is a finite amount of time, so if that finite amount of time is the loop size, then the loop would need to be made larger. But since our universe isn’t finite in that way, it’s probably not infinite.
Well if the loop size is finite, then the loop would have to have an infinite loop size. This is a nice property of a finite loop, though, because it means that if the loop size grows larger than the loop size at the beginning of the loop, then the loop is infinite. This is actually something that should be considered when we design infinite loop universes, because it means that when the loop ends, there will be a finite amount of time that is still in the loop.
This is actually a good property to have in an infinite loop universe. When we design infinite loops, we try to avoid something like the famous “dying of thirst” paradox, because this would mean that every time we looped back to one of the original events, we would have gained infinite time.
