From July 2012 through January 2013, I was a part of the WVU Alumni Association Board. I volunteered for the WVU Alumni Association office in two different capacities. I was the board chair for the WVU alumni’s student association, and I was the chair for the Alumnae Business Committee. During the summer, I was the chair for the Alumnae Alumni Association, and I also served on the Alumnae Business Committee.
I also worked with the WVU Alumni Association to create the WVU Alumni Association website, which has since gone through six redesigns and a bunch of tweaks. The most recent update was last year, and it is a great improvement over the previous version. The website now includes a great list of WVU alumni, including some pictures of my own alma mater.
I’m now officially an alum, a fact I’ll never get over. It’s not just because I know everyone on the Business Committee, or because I know everyone in the WVU Alumni Association. It’s because I know all of you. The fact that I now live in the state capital of West Virginia makes all of this a little bittersweet, but it’s also a source of great pride.
Although it’s been a little while since I graduated from WVU, I still remember the campus very well. I even remember the football stadium. It was one of those old-fashioned football stadiums that had huge brick pillars surrounding the field. I also remember the old-fashioned student union which had tables and chairs outside and a giant sign that read “WVU is the best.” I also remember the old-fashioned gymnasium which had a row of metal bleachers around the middle.
I don’t remember this.
This is true. I still don’t quite get how you think you can remember the old-fashioned, non-traditional, everything-that-was-cool-back-in-the-80s WVU student union.
There are many aspects of WVU that make me want to punch the air. That’s not the only reason though. The first time I went to the university gymnasium this was the only place I could find that had a video screen. In the video screen stood a giant inflatable football.
The WVU video screen was a giant inflatable football.
WVU is a school where the gym is where the student union is. If you go to the gym, you’ll see all sorts of awesome activities. The video screen is a giant inflatable football.
