The news media and our society has given us a tremendous amount of information and influence. I’m a big fan of the free exchange of ideas on the Internet, and that’s why this is a great place to share my views on the news, the economy, politics, and much more.
Well, thats not exactly true, because there are a lot of other people who share my views on the news, and they are usually not very good at it. But I digress. I’m just going to say this. The news media is a very powerful force, and with great power comes great responsibility. The same goes for the media, and in a world where democracy is losing its way, that is a double-edged sword.
The media is not just a force for good, it is also a force for the good. If we had a media that did not censor itself to the point of making it impossible for the public to understand the news and the lies that infest the world, we may very well have a better chance of democracy.
I think the only difference between a dictatorship and a democracy is that in a dictatorship the people are kept in the dark and all the power goes to the leader. In a democracy, it’s up to the people to make the decision on whether to listen to the message.
For example, in the first part of the 30 for 30 world news section, we heard about the protests in Sudan, the protests in Bahrain, the protests in Yemen, the unrest in Tunisia, and the protests in Venezuela. That’s only the tip of the iceberg. We also heard about the political witch hunts in Russia and the FBI closing down investigations into the biggest political scandals of the last 30 years.
And then, of course, there is the usual mix of breaking news and celebrity gossip.
Another one of the many news stories we got to see for the 30 for 30 section was about the first lady and husband of a former president getting engaged, which was like a little too much for me to handle at first. I can only imagine the reaction of many of our readers. But the second part of the story, the celebrity gossip, was actually pretty entertaining.
We are talking about former president Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, who just got engaged to Tim Kaine. The two are the youngest and the oldest in the White House, which makes them the ideal couple for the ages. But they also happen to be the oldest when it comes to politics. When it comes to politics, those who are the most experienced with the system and people in charge of it are the ones who most benefit from their positions.
Although they may seem like they would be perfect, Hillary and Tim are not the most experienced people in the world, and neither are Bill. It’s a vicious cycle that’s been going on for centuries. People who are the most experienced with the system and people in charge of it get to live in the most secure and peaceful country in the world, but they get to be the most vulnerable of the population for the most part.
Its all a matter of balance. A better balance would likely include more experienced people in power, more experience in dealing with the system, and greater transparency. As the above quote from President Clinton says, “the people who run the country need to be held accountable.
